CAMPAIGN DIARY:

Campaign doesn’t mind doing its bit for charity but it would at least be nice to know if our good name is being used as an incentive for charitable donations.

OgilvyOne almost came unstuck this week when it tried to deliver some of

the prizes won at its Christmas auction in aid of the NSPCC.

One of the prizes was much-coveted - a chance to get your mugshot in

Campaign. This apparently sparked a ferocious bidding war, with the

former Royal Mail brand manager Gianfranco Cuzziol scooping the prize,

although for a measly 50 quid.

It was a great and original idea by OgilvyOne, but they forgot one thing

- to ask Campaign’s permission. And so followed a series of grovelling

calls along the lines of ’oh go on, it’s for charidee’.

Kind-hearted as ever, we agreed. But just don’t anyone else try it
