Campaign Direct Awards 2006: Best Use of Direct Mail to Businesses (High Volume)

SILVER AWARD Project: Bolt-On Agency: Harrison Troughton Wunderman Creative director: Steve Harrison Art director: Jason King Copywriter: Anthony Abdool Business director: Dominic Evans Client company: Microsoft Marketing communications manager: Georgina Mitcham

IT directors are increasingly finding that staff are working away from the office and need to access their company's e-mail system. To meet this demand, they are having to patch the old system with new software.

However, Microsoft Exchange 5.5 can allow remote access without the constant need to adapt the system. The agency created a mailing to illustrate this.

The direct mailpack comprised two patched-together envelopes, while the letter was "bolted" together, with additional information stapled on.

Mailings were sent to 5,627 IT directors; 760 clicked through to the campaign site and 10 per cent of these were converted, worth £1,486,563 in projected revenue.

Also won: Best IT and Consumer Durables Campaign

1 Why creative people have lost their way

What better way to kick off Campaign's relaunch than with another think piece on the current failings of our industry, written by an embittered, pretentious creative who misses "the way things used to be"...
