accelerates its plans for its own internet portal. A takeover bid could

OgilvyInteractive has created an interactive campaign for the new

ice-cream brand Maxibon which includes viral marketing, a rich-media

website and an interactive game. The brand will be promoted through a

nationwide sampling roadshow. Video clips of members of the public

taking part in the challenge will be posted on the website to encourage

trial.





British Sky Broadcasting and the West Indies Cricket Board have signed a

deal which sees Sky become an exclusive internet partner to the WICB

with sole access to its worldwide broadcast rights. The deal, which

comes into effect immediately, includes an eight-year agreement for Sky

to produce, develop and maintain the official WICB web offerings.





The online employment site JobsinCharities.co.uk has been launched to

serve Britain’s burgeoning charity industry. The independent site will

offer staff with specialist skills tailored to the charity sector.

Charities can also save money by provid-ing a link from their own site

directly to JobsinCharities.co.uk.





Sportal.co.uk became the first sports website to launch a national TV ad

campaign in the UK this week. Its satellite and terrestrial campaign

will continue through to the kick-off of Euro 2000, of which Sportal is

one of the official sponsors. The campaign features Kevin Keegan.





The European recruitment website StepStone has announced a year-long

strategic partnership with the cyber cafe chain Internet Exchange. The

deal will see StepStone training Internet Exchange staff in its 200-plus

cafes in the UK to help surfers looking for jobs. The partnership will

be extended to Internet Exchange’s European operation later in the

year.





ITV is set to launch a football website, Itvfoot-ball.co.uk, to coincide

with the channel’s coverage of Euro 2000. The broadcaster has appointed

United Broadcasting and Entertainment to create the site. The website

will be integrated with Euro 2000 broadcasts and will capitalise on

ITV’s portfolio of terrestrial football rights including the UEFA

Champions League and FA Cup competitions.





Eurosport has appointed Mark Alexander from the Guardian Unlimited as

its internet sales manager to head a new team to develop the company’s

eurosport.com website.





Emap Digital has announced an e-commerce partnership between its

business website Con-struction Plus and the builders merchants Wolseley

Centers. The deal will allow consumers to purchase up to 150,000

products and building materials online and aims to increase both

parties’ reach in Europe.





The Daily Telegraph has launched a new weekly supplement focusing on

e-commerce. The section, called dotcom.telegraph, is a standalone

12-page supplement free with the Thursday edition of the paper. It

contains three pages of e-commerce news, lifestyle features, profiles

and a table of upcoming flotations.
