Banks Hoggins O'Shea/FCB's new-media branch, FCBi, has poached Simon Foster, the founding partner of Initiative Dot Com, to be its interactive media director.
FCBi, which launched last July, offers clients online media planning and buying, strategic and direct response marketing services. Foster's brief is to bring together an integrated pan-European media offering for the agency.
While at Initiative, Foster worked on clients including ThinkNatural.com, Unilever, SelfTrade.co.uk and Cisco Systems. At FCBi, he will initially focus on the agency's main digital client, Compaq, although the agency is aiming to bring in new business too.
Foster said: 'FCB has some good online experience in the US through clients such as Amazon and Sega. The idea of helping to transfer and develop that knowledge into a European interactive offering represents a tremendous opportunity for myself, FCB and its clients.'
Luke Pollard, the client services director at FCBi, said Foster's appointment signals a new drive for the dotcom division: 'We're trying to build FCBi's capabilities across Europe. We're still getting going and are perhaps a little more active in European markets outside the UK.'
Pollard was brought over from FCB's Toronto office to help push the agency forward in Europe. He joins the agency's creative director, Ken Muir, who was previously at FCB's San Francisco branch, as well as Paul Shultz, the database director at FCBi.
'Our goal is to be a resource for existing agency clients anywhere in Europe, but also to bring on new clients for our digital strategy, database and online media services,' Pollard said.
