CAMPAIGN-I: Habitat hires two for web rebranding task

Habitat, the furniture retailer, has appointed Digit, the new-media

design agency, and Beyond Interactive to handle the online rebranding of

its website and its online marketing account.



The incumbent agency, Pixelpark, has been handling the account for the

past two years, but Habitat is re-examining its online strategy and is

understood to be considering selling over the internet.



Andy Chambers, the managing director of Digit, said that the agency

pitched with Beyond Interactive against a number of other agencies for

the account.



He said: 'Habitat is actually examining its plans on e-commerce. We're

going to work with the retailer on introducing new creative ideas, both

web-based and store-based.



'Habitat wants to create new ways of 'romancing the product'. We're

taking it out of a pure web interface and making it more

multi-touch.'



To date, Habitat has had a catalogue online and a series of promotional

mini-sites, which are updated as the retailer launches new collections.

However, it has yet to sell its goods on the internet.



Juliet Sokol, the group marketing manager at Habitat, said: 'Digital

technology is changing rapidly and in keeping with these developments we

feel that better navigation of the site will enhance our customers'

experience.'



Beyond Interactive will create an online marketing strategy, which is

expected to consist of e-mail marketing.



Beyond recently merged with MediaCom's digital branch, Media.com, which

has adopted the Beyond brand.
