CAMPAIGN-I: Profero's Corker to launch Australian office

Profero's creative director, Jamie Corker, is leaving the agency's

UK office to launch Profero in Australia.



Corker, who was one of six directors who founded Profero in March 1998,

will launch the Australian agency in July with Steve Ryan and Ben

Millar.



Ryan will be the managing director and Millar will take the role of

business development director. Ryan joins Profero from mdigital, where

he was the managing director. Millar has most recently been working at

an e-business for Deloitte & Touche.



The agency will work in the Australian market for Profero's roster of

clients and has already won two unnamed accounts. It will be based in

Sydney, and Corker will take on an overall creative advisory role at

Profero's five offices.



The move means Profero is entering a marketplace that has suffered from

the global downturn in internet stocks. Several high-profile new-media

companies have withdrawn from the region, including DoubleClick, which

closed its sales operation in March, but kept its technology offshoot

open.



Ryan said: "We've come through a situation where the market was pretty

much funded by the dotcoms. In the past six months, certainly in

Australia, we've seen traditional companies which have been around for a

while and which have established revenue streams get involved in new

media. There has been some consolidation of the media business, but we

have a strong business model and the dotcom dollars are being replaced

by traditional companies."



Corker's position in the UK will be filled by Dave Harrison, his deputy,

who joined the agency two years ago.
