Roger Camplisson, Initiative Media’s head of radio, is leaving the

UK to launch the agency’s first office in Asia.

Camplisson, 35, who is also the media planning chief for Birds Eye

Walls, is flying to Singapore this week to build a regional agency from

scratch.

As international client services director, he will report directly to

Initiative Media’s worldwide chairman Marie-Jose Forissier, who is based

at the head office in Paris.

Initiative has already established a network of operations across

Europe, North America, Latin America and South Africa and plans to

position itself as a global player.

It is believed the company will expand from South-east Asia into Japan,

although details have yet to be confirmed.

Camplisson has been at Initiative in the UK for the past seven years and

started out as a TV buyer for MBS Media.

During three years as head of radio, Camplisson has helped boost the

agency’s radio billings, which have grown four-fold in the last four

years.

Unilever, Peugeot and Lever Brothers are Initiative’s biggest radio

spenders.

David Cuff, Initiative’s broadcast director, will assume responsibility

for the agency’s radio budget until a replacement is found.

However, Camplisson stressed the planning of radio was part of a broader

media strategy at Initiative, and that all planners are client

specific.

Camplisson commented on his new position: ’Initiative has proven itself

to be successful in managing international clients but this is the first

clear sign that the company is committed to expanding into the Asian

market.’
