Two of Carlton’s digital channels will be stepping up their
broadcast hours next month to attract bigger audiences.
Carlton Food Network is extending its hours into peak-time on cable TV,
filling the axed Carlton Select slot. Food programming will now be
broadcast from 7am to 8pm, adding extra hours to its evening viewing and
allowing the channel to pull in audiences outside of its traditional
As of 1 March, Carlton Cinema will roll out 24 hours a day on Cable &
Wireless, NTL, Telewest and Atlantic, adding an extra 1.5 million homes
to its reach. Both channels are already broadcast 24 hours a day on
Richard Vinton, deputy sales director of Carlton Digital Sales, said
Carlton Cinema will compete with Channel 5 for viewing hours and
Carlton Digital Sales will keep the same ratecard for the channels but
as audience ratings increase, so will the price for spot rates.
