Two of Carlton’s digital channels will be stepping up their

broadcast hours next month to attract bigger audiences.

Carlton Food Network is extending its hours into peak-time on cable TV,

filling the axed Carlton Select slot. Food programming will now be

broadcast from 7am to 8pm, adding extra hours to its evening viewing and

allowing the channel to pull in audiences outside of its traditional

daytime following.

As of 1 March, Carlton Cinema will roll out 24 hours a day on Cable &

Wireless, NTL, Telewest and Atlantic, adding an extra 1.5 million homes

to its reach. Both channels are already broadcast 24 hours a day on

ONdigital.

Richard Vinton, deputy sales director of Carlton Digital Sales, said

Carlton Cinema will compete with Channel 5 for viewing hours and

advertisers.

Carlton Digital Sales will keep the same ratecard for the channels but

as audience ratings increase, so will the price for spot rates.
