Media Solutions, the joint venture media company owned by Tempus

and TBWA GGT Simons Palmer, is parting company with one of its managing

partners, John Carter, as it prepares for a takeover by Tempus.

Carter tendered his resignation from the media dependant last week and

is plann-ing to join the management consultancy, Galileo. Carter joined

Media Solutions a year ago to run the pounds 50 million company

alongside Peter Will-iamson and Andrew Napier.

Williamson said Carter’s departure was unconnected with the Tempus

takeover and added that he had as yet made no decision on a replacement,

though there will not be an external hiring.

Carter, who joined the company from WCRS where he was director of

planning, had a brief to build Media Solutions’ strategic credentials

and help reposition the agency.

However, while the agency has held on to several key accounts its sister

creative shop has lost, such as Nationwide, media-only new-business

progress has been slow.

Now the company is poised to be bought out by Tempus and established as

a second-string agency to Tempus’s CIA Medianetwork (Campaign, 30

January).

Tempus has first option on the 49 per cent of Media Solutions, now owned

by TBWA, and the deal is expected to be finalised before the end of the

month.
