Media Solutions, the joint venture media company owned by Tempus
and TBWA GGT Simons Palmer, is parting company with one of its managing
partners, John Carter, as it prepares for a takeover by Tempus.
Carter tendered his resignation from the media dependant last week and
is plann-ing to join the management consultancy, Galileo. Carter joined
Media Solutions a year ago to run the pounds 50 million company
alongside Peter Will-iamson and Andrew Napier.
Williamson said Carter’s departure was unconnected with the Tempus
takeover and added that he had as yet made no decision on a replacement,
though there will not be an external hiring.
Carter, who joined the company from WCRS where he was director of
planning, had a brief to build Media Solutions’ strategic credentials
and help reposition the agency.
However, while the agency has held on to several key accounts its sister
creative shop has lost, such as Nationwide, media-only new-business
progress has been slow.
Now the company is poised to be bought out by Tempus and established as
a second-string agency to Tempus’s CIA Medianetwork (Campaign, 30
Tempus has first option on the 49 per cent of Media Solutions, now owned
by TBWA, and the deal is expected to be finalised before the end of the
