The four 20-second spots, which break this week, depict people in

everyday situations who feel good because they are wearing Matalan

clothes. All the spots are set to Jackie Wilson’s Sweetest Feeling.

In ’skip’, a man strolls along in the pouring rain past a woman who

looks at him quizzically from underneath her umbrella. The frames run

through the clothes he is wearing and their prices.

’Game’ opens on a boy who is more interested in his reflection than his

computer game.

’Shopper’ shows a woman whose bulging shopping bags burst all over the

street. But in her comfortable Matalan clothes she’s unperturbed.

’Dinner party’ shows a man cooking in his kitchen. The ads end with the

strapline: ’The store where you always get more.’

All four ads were written by Neame Ingram, art directed by Paul

Westmoreland and directed by Mike Taylor at Bliss Films. Media is

handled by Carat (Manchester).
