CDP has poached Crispin Reed, the joint head of account management

at Leo Burnett, to take charge of its flagship Honda business.

Reed, currently on gardening leave, joins CDP on 1 June. He was the

Burnett board account director in charge of Mercedes when it won the

Cannes Grand Prix with the ’skidmarks’ press work in 1997.

At CDP, he will succeed Martin Staniforth, who has been running the

Honda business for the past year.

Staniforth will remain on the board at CDP and continue to head the BNFL

account. Johnny Hornby had run the account until the summer of 1998.

Reed’s time at Burnett also included a three-year stint at the agency’s

Singapore office. He has worked across much of the agency’s client base

including McDonald’s, Procter & Gamble and the recently acquired Heinz

business.

’We wanted Reed because he has a wealth of big brand experience and

proven creative ability on a car account that has won awards,’ Simon

Myers, the CDP managing director, said. ’We need someone with his weight

and experience running Honda.’

Reed’s is the third senior hiring at CDP since Myers became the managing

director of the agency in August 1998. His arrival follows the

appointment of Jon McKie as planning director and Kevin May as a

’director in charge’.

Reed commented: ’After 13 years at Leo Burnett, I need new challenges.’
