Chairman of British Airways to head IPA effectiveness panel

Sir Colin Marshall, the British Airways chairman, is to head the judging panel for this year’s IPA Advertising Effectiveness Awards, which have been revamped to counter claims that they had become outdated.

Sir Colin Marshall, the British Airways chairman, is to head the

judging panel for this year’s IPA Advertising Effectiveness Awards,

which have been revamped to counter claims that they had become

outdated.



He leads a seven-strong team of senior clients charged with picking the

winners from shortlists being drawn up by agency executives, academics

and research experts.



For the first time, the judging panel includes not only marketing chiefs

also but finance, personnel and business development directors.



They include David Bell, Financial Times chairman, Steve Williamson,

SmithKline Beecham’s finance director, John Lee, group personnel and

services director at the Halifax building society, Guy Walker, chairman

of Van den Bergh Foods, Tim Mason, Tesco’s director of corporate

marketing, and Adrian Hosford, the director of Talk 21st Century at BT.
