Channel 5 has poached Flextech’s deputy airtime manager of sales

and unveiled a series of internal promotions.

Janine Evans joins Channel 5 from Flextech and has been promoted to

airtime sales manager. She started out as sales executive for UK Gold

five years ago and moved to airtime management when UK Gold merged with

Flextech in 1997.

Evans, who joined Channel 5 last week, will be responsible for

controlling the availability of airtime slots and for booking airtime.

She will also instruct the sales floor to target certain areas of the

market according to ratings and airtime availability.

Evans will also oversee the ratings department and is to report directly

to Channel 5 sales controller Mark White.

Additionally, Sarah Leese has been promoted from ratings analyst to

ratings manager, and Sarah Finnie from promotions planning analyst to

promotions planning manager.

On the sales floor, Nick Young has risen from group manager to business

manager and will report to Jason Talley, account director of one of the

four sales teams. Young joined Channel 5 in July 1996 and will be taking

on responsibility for more external client sponsorship deals across the

channel’s output.

Young’s first brief is to find a sponsorship partner for Chant, a new

American import. The teen drama has been brought in to draw a young

female audience.

Young will work alongside Tanya O’Sullivan, John Lewis and Jonathan

Cantor - three business managers from the other teams.

Meanwhile, three sales assistants have been promoted to sales

executives.

Sonia Chawda, Enda Zumrutel and Stella Onuroah have all been with

Channel 5 for 18 months and will continue to sell to clients and

agencies.

Channel 5 is now on the hunt for three new sales assistants.
