Chupa Chups picks MediaVest ahead of Carat in media pitch

MediaVest Manchester has seen off Carat in a head-to-head pitch and retained the £2 million media account for the confectionery company Chupa Chups.

The assignment comprises the Chupa Chups lollipops, Smint and the newly launched Cremosa sugar-free lollipop brands. In March, the company announced that it intended to spend £3 million supporting the strawberry-and-cream-flavoured lollipop during the next 12 months.

MediaVest Manchester was reappointed to handle the UK account as part of an ongoing global agency review by Chupa Chups. The agency has handled the account for the past five years.

Charles Reid, a director of MediaVest Manchester, said: "MediaVest Manchester has just celebrated its tenth anniversary and our new-business record has driven the £190 million billings that we now deliver.

"It's extremely satisfying to be able to consolidate our position by retaining business that has been core to our success in the first ten years."

Commenting on the appointment, Graham Dyer, the managing director of Chupa Chups UK, said: "MediaVest Manchester has again demonstrated specific ways in which it can add value to our business in a very focused and professional manner."

Chupa Chups uses the Barcelona creative agency Tandem for Cremosa and Blair Folles for its Smint work. Neither of the accounts is affected by the review.
