Clear Channel set to strengthen presence in European market

Clear Channel, the parent company of Adshel, is expanding its

European presence with its entry into the Dutch outdoor market, the

winning of its first major Italian contract and consolidation of its

business in Germany.

Through a 51 per cent stake in the Dutch outdoor and ambient media

company Hillenaar Outdoor Advertising, Clear Channel has secured a

presence in the Dutch outdoor market. Hillenaar was founded ten years

ago and as well as owning display panels in cafes, schools and

universities, has a network of billboards at sports centres, bus

shelters and mega motorway panels.

For Hillenaar the association will enable it plug into Clear Channel's

global Adshel development brand and product range as it pitches for new

contracts.

Clear Channel has bought a minority stake in the German street furniture

company Wall AG, which operates 20,000 street furniture panels across

Europe and is present in 56 German cities.

Coline McConville, the chief operating officer of Clear Channel

International, said: "Wall now plans to expand into other markets and we

are pleased to invest in that vision. We regard Wall as a high-growth

company."

Clear Channel's furniture division, Adshel, has also won a nine-year

contract to supply street furniture to the City of Naples. The business

was won following a pitch against JC Decaux, Cemusa and Viacom

Outdoor.

Last week AdShel announced that it had won Singapore's pounds 353

million street furniture contract after pitching against JC Decaux.
