Marks & Spencer has appointed Linda Shepherd head of food marketing,

following a shake-up of the retail giant’s operations. In her new

position, Shepherd will work alongside Fiona Moore, head of product

direction, to extend Marks & Spencer’s food range. Shepherd will be

responsible for marketing new products. - Marketing Week





Tesco marketing director Tim Mason has been named chairman of Tesco.com,

the rebranded e-commerce operation that is being spun-off from the main

supermarket business. Mason will continue in his role of marketing head,

working with chief executive John Browett and chief operations officer

Carolyn Bradley. - Marketing





Pepe Jeans European marketing director Michelle McKenna has left the

company months after joining following a restructure. Pepe is revamping

its retail strategy with a new range called Advanced Products for

autumn/winter 2000. Karina Golding, who was handling the marketing

department, is also leaving. A new European marketing director is being

Bel UK, the cheese manufacturer, has recruited Rosemarie Tapp to be its

first marketing director. Tapp was previously a marketing manager at the

toilet and facial tissue manufacturer Kimberly-Clark, which owns Andrex

and Kleenex. In her new role she takes charge of the Babybel, Laughing

Cow cheese spread, Cheez Dippers and Port Salut brands. - Marketing

Guinness is planning to turn the Guinness Book of Records into an online

brand. Stephen Nelson, managing director of brewing arm Guinness GB,

will oversee the development of the site, called

GuinessWorldRecords.com. The venture is scheduled for launch in the

One2One is to set up an interactive marketing division as it finalises

plans to launch an internet portal. Colin Morley, One2One’s general

manager of brand development, will oversee the department. His

responsibilities include the strategic direction of One2One’s websites

and other interactive channels. - Marketing





Paul Barber is joining the Football Association as its first head of

marketing. Barber is currently director of communications for the retail

division of Barclays bank. Reporting to the FA’s chief executive Adam

Crozier, Barber will oversee marketing and commercial operations,

including ticket and event management. - Marketing Week





Direct Line is dividing its marketing department into separate units,

each with its own managing director and marketing director. The units

will cover telephone insurance, e-commerce and overseas operations.

There will also be a department overseeing the selling of Direct Line

products through branches of its parent company Royal Bank of Scotland

and NatWest. Another unit will handle the Green Flag recovery service,

which Direct Line bought last year. - Marketing Week.
