An energy drink to rival Red Bull is being launched in the UK this week. The Dutch-owned brand Enorm has been licensed to Watford-based Sapna Impex, which will handle the UK distribution. The company is expected to appoint a media agency by the end of this month and a TV campaign is planned for later in the year. Microsoft is restructuring its marketing department to focus on

individual rather than business customers. The move is designed to

portray Microsoft as a caring and accessible company. As part of the

revamp, Shaun Orpen’s role changes from director of corporate marketing

to director of customer marketing. Microsoft says the changes are a

result of research showing demand from customers for more direct

Warner Village Cinemas has hired Sarah Kelly as its first marketing

director. Kelly was previously regional marketing director for Europe

and the Middle East at Wendy’s International. Warner has a pounds 7

million marketing budget and is expanding its 29-strong UK cinema chain.

Kelly will take up her post in July. - Marketing





Wella has parted company with Doner Cardwell Hawkins, the agency hired

last August by international marketing director Helen Cooper, who has

left to set up a dotcom. Wella is now reviewing Yardley’s advertising

arrangements in the run-up to the launch of a product range in July.

Cooper’s role has been filled by Benno Olschowsky, who is based in

Cologne. Brendan Maye becomes UK sales and marketing director for the

brand. Yardley was acquired by the Wella subsidiary Cosmopolitan

Cosmetics in 1998. - Marketing





Video rental chain Blockbuster, which is facing an increasing challenge

from digital film services, has restructured its marketing department.

Tim Fairs takes charge of advertising in his new role as communications

manager. He joins the company from Comet and will report to UK marketing

director Siobhan Chatburn. Fairs will be responsible for an upcoming TV

Jim Tyrrell, Mazda’s European marketing director, has been poached by

Mitsubishi to be its managing director. Tyrell has worked for Mazda

Motors Europe for 18 months, based in Germany. He began his career at

Ford in 1985, rising to marketing director in 1995. He ran customer

relationships and a new-media operation before joining Mazda. Tyrell

will join Mitsubishi on 22 May, taking over from Denis Murphy.

Mitsubishi’s current advertising focuses on price cuts. - Marketing





ABC Electronic, the new-media arm of the Audit Bureau of Circulations,

has completed a comprehensive online audit of Yahoo.co.uk. This has

verified Yahoo!’s total page impressions during February to be more than

200 million. The figure is the largest achieved to date by any site

audited by ABC Electronic. Richard Foan, managing director of ABC

Electronic, said: ’To break the 200 million barrier is outstanding and

demonstrates Yahoo!’s incredible public appeal.’ Martina King, Yahoo!’s

managing director for the UK and Ireland, put the success down to public

recognition of the services provided by the search engine and portal. -
