National Power has hired former Comet communications strategy manager as

Kevin Peake as head of brand marketing for its domestic energy arm

Npower. Peake will lead the drive to establish the Npower brand and will

Rank Hovis McDougall is to bring organic foods to the mass market

through the Enjoy Organic Company. The venture will launch on 5 June and

be headed by Harriet Rhys Williams, the former marketing director of

Coca-Cola marketing director Andrew Harrison is to join Nestle as its

most senior marketer, filling the vacancy left by Kees Langerak. He will

report to managing director Alastair Sykes and take charge of brands

such as Kit-Kat, Polo, Smarties and Quality Street. Harrison’s role at

Coca-Cola will be filled by Charlotte Oades. - Marketing





Sara Lee is introducing its Belgian coffee-shop chain Jacqmotte to the

UK. The company plans to open 30 stores by 2003, taking on chains such

Iceland marketing director Alan Shepherd has quit the retailer suddenly

after six months in the post, without a job to go to. Shepherd resigned

following a ’culture clash’ with Russell Ford, Iceland’s managing

director and former marketing chief. Last year Shepherd was ousted from

his post as brand communications director for Somerfield after a

Spar has hired Tobias Wasmuht as international head of marketing.

Wasmuht, who was previously marketing manager for Marks & Spencer

Deutschland, will take up his post in Amsterdam and will report to

Whitbread has restructured its marketing team following the departure of

Rachel Johnson, chief marketer for Heineken. Iain Newell, new product

development marketing manager with responsibility for GB lager, has been

promoted to marketing manager for the standard lager. Johnson quit

Whitbread last month to join Levi Strauss. - Marketing





Renault and Nissan have announced a series of marketing initiatives,

which could include a review of how their combined European media spend

of pounds 485 million is planned and bought. - Marketing





Forecourt TV, which provides television advertising on petrol station

forecourts, is investing pounds 5.25 million to launch its service

nationwide in a joint agreement with Texaco. - Marketing





Air Miles’ most senior marketer Wanda Goldwag is leaving to start a

career in the City. Goldwag, director of sales and relationship

management and joint managing director, is joining the venture capital
