7.00am Wake up to the smell of peppermint tea and instantly realise I am at home. I hate getting up, so lie in bed as long as I can.

8.00am On way to work, check e-mail while discussing with Brian, my husband, why our solicitor is being so slow in dealing with our house purchase. It's already a month late.

9.00am Get together with Charlie Robertson and Katie Halling to review DeBeers pitch work and prepare a fee proposal for a global brand brief from a hot prospect.

10.00am Call with Pino Rozzi (Italian creative director) to discuss my visit next week. He's in South Africa shooting the Christmas extravaganza for Sky Italy. Makes me jealous with his tales of sunshine and snow machines.

10.30am Meeting with Steve Henry, Richard Huntington and Sid McGrath to discuss HHCL's 2006 strategy and financial plan. Joined by Charlie and Kate Morse to prepare for a chemistry meeting initiated by the AAR.

12.00pm Catch up by phone with my partner-in-crime and boss, Andy Berlin, who's in New York trying to keep a low profile (difficult for him). Discuss preparations for the WPP strategy review meeting in New York and the burning issue of the day.

1.00pm Late for lunch hosted by Debbie Klein with Carolyn McCall and Tess Alps. Debbie is next year's president of Wacl and asked us to brainstorm potential speakers and share our experiences as ex-presidents. Great excuse for a gossip.

2.45pm More e-mail before our monthly new-business conference call with the chief executives of our nine United offices. Discover that our agency in Buenos Aires (WM United) has been shortlisted for Agency of the Year. Could be a good Latin double, as Sra.Rushmore United in Madrid has already been awarded Agency of the Year in Spain.

4.00pm Call from solicitor to be told we have finally exchanged on the purchase of our new house. Now need to worry about moving in before Christmas. Aaarrrrgh.

5.00pm Eurostar to Paris. Time to catch up on e-mail and reading.

9.00pm Dinner with Herve, the creative director of Les Ouvriers du Paradis United. Discuss DeBeers pitch and salmon fishing in Ireland.

11.30pm Can't decide if it is too late to call Brian to say goodnight. Call anyway, waking him! Sweet dreams.
