6.00am Alarm goes off. Note to self, more relaxation time next weekend.

6.15am M40 traffic bad, but I'm being entertained on the phone by Chaz Wigley, the chairman of the Singapore office. He fills me in on the planning for their tenth anniversary party. Gutted I can't go.

7.00am Gym. I'm playing for an invitation 15 against Oxford University. Eighty minutes of rugby against some ultra-fit students is now close enough to be a worry.

9.00am Vici, my PA, goes through my day. Dodge the BBH bagel breakfast. Have a banana instead.

9.15am Catch up with the chairman, Jim Carroll. Topics for discussion are BA, Google and our new Audi film. Try to concentrate, but his Gregorian chant music is putting me off.

9.45am Meeting with the BBH business directors.

10.30am Meet with new joiners. Tell them that they just need to get the account assistants onside and everything will be fine.

11.00am Debrief with Perfetti van Melle team about the client ten-year anniversary party. Best tales of the night are the Steve Kershaw speech and John Hegarty's view of the wine.

11.30am Meet with UK leadership team to discuss first digital pitch.

12.45pm Lunch with Neil Munn, the head of our brand invention business, Zag. We go to La Perla, scene of some fantastic lunches.

2.00pm Richard Exon grabs me to chat about an approach from a new business prospect we're going to have to turn down.

3.00pm Talk through results of the Client Relationship Survey with Simon Sherwood.

4.00pm Call from my last bachelor mate. He's finally proposed. Some good banter, he bought the ring six months ago, but then bottled it.

4.30pm Christmas company meeting prep with Wardy.

6.00pm Meeting with senior Unilever client to agree team, process and budget for massive content project.

7.00pm Back on the M40, am being wound up by Gwyn Jones, the chief of BBH New York. We discuss Wales' Grand Slam chances.

8.00pm Girls both in bed, but back in time to read my son his favourite book, Asterix and the Big Fight.

8.30pm Pre-production meeting for wife's birthday, I'm cooking for 12 women. Note to self, more relaxation time next weekend.
