7.30am Leave the house.

7.31am Return to pick up car keys.

7.32am Return to pick up mobile. Kiss two sleepy children I haven't seen properly since yesterday.

7.33am While on the road, call industry best mate, Hannah Brown, the office, a jobless client, and a lady who sells fake Chloe bags.

8.05am In the office, horse-strength cup of tea and a huge number of e-mails from clients and agencies.

8.45am Breakfast with Amanda Phillips (chief executive, Proximity) at the Landmark. Hugely enjoyable conversation about integration, pitches and our childrens' schools.

10.00am Office meeting with Martin Jones to view new ad agency reels, and talk about a new client brief for an ad agency search.

10.20am Long phone call with large utilities client who needs our help with a DM agency search.

10.50am Check www.qpr-mad.co.uk. Feel depressed. Understand why Delia Smith drinks.

11.00am Meet with financial dotcom client who wants an ad agency to help launch a new product. Eat too many biscuits and realise this isn't going to be a diet day.

12.30pm Working lunch (ignore fruit and eat crisps) with an independent research consultant to discuss client/agency relationship research we have commissioned.

2.00pm Mercy dash to Hamleys to buy WWE's Undertaker figure for son and High School Musical DVD for daughter (guilt presents for being late home again tonight).

2.30pm Long chat with Liz Little of St Luke's about alternatives to the traditional pitch.

3.15pm Enjoy doing nothing for a bit.

3.45pm E-mails. Call to a client who used us for a design consultancy search. Might be interested in finding a new digital agency.

4.30pm Cup of tea with Amanda Walsh (chief exectuive, Lowe) to catch up on the agency and my admiration of her wardrobe.

6.30pm Head over to MindShare for the WACL vice-president's drinks. Plan to stay no more than an hour, must go home and see my children.

9.00pm Leave MindShare and speed home clutching "guilt presents".

9.45pm Kids asleep, so comfort myself with a glass of Sauvignon, a bag of Salt 'n' Shake and Grey's Anatomy on Sky+.

10.15pm Fall asleep on sofa with mouth open (so I'm told).
