Close-Up: 24 hours with ... Russell Davies, Open Intelligence Agency

Name: Russell Davies
Job: Partner/Darth Strategist, Open Intelligence Agency
Professional mission: Manage the tension between art and commerce
Personal mantra: We're as disappointed as you are

4.00am Awoken by what sounds like a large crowd of people murmuring outside our window. It's a large crowd of people murmuring outside our window. We live by a Holiday Inn and every month or so they have a false fire alarm and all the guests muster outside our flats.

7.00am Get up again. Potter about making a cup of tea, washing and catching up with the world - e-mail, bloglines, YouTube, flickr.

8.00am Play games on the Cartoon Network website with my son, Arthur. He plays. I read more blogs.

9.00am Bacon, eggs, The Guardian at Sky 2 on Hanson Street.

10.00am Meet with a potential client/partner at Bar Bruno on Wardour Street. They want us to think about the future of sport on telly. Right up our street.

11.00am Friday is coffee-morning day. Anyone who wants to comes along to The Breakfast Club on D'Arblay Street and we chat.

Noon Sneak Arthur out of school for lunch. Go to his favourite adland lunch destination - the food court in the Plaza mall on Oxford Street.

1.00pm Just mucking about really. Playing on my drums and ukulele, reading some blogs.

2.00pm My Open Intelligence Agency partners live in Amsterdam, New York and Sydney, so there's never a good time to talk. Once a week we have a status meeting in World of Warcraft. We attack a castle or something, then chat about work.

3.30pm Anne fetches Arthur home from school. We run around the flat with plastic swords.

4.00pm Someone wants advice on reinventing music retail, so spend a pleasant hour looking at record shops and comparing them with more interesting retailers.

6.00pm Do a bit more drumming with headphones on and Anne and Arthur mock me while I can't see or hear them. Write a blog post for russelldavies.com.

9.00pm Write up notes on music retail. Do a mindmap of ideas for a YouTube video project.

10.00pm Run twice round Regent's Park to burn off calories acquired writing www.eggbaconchipsandbeans.com; still seem to be fat though.

11.00pm iChat with a client in San Francisco about life, love and software.

11.30pm Bed.
