Close-Up: 24 hours with ... Sarah Gold

Name: Sarah Gold
Job: Joint managing director, Clemmow Hornby Inge
Professional mission: What's next?
Personal mantra: Whenever you get a spare minute, hit the shops

6.45am Rudely awoken by the white noise of an untuned radio. Should probably be aroused by Heart FM, but can't quite work the machine.

6.50am Make first bowl of porridge.

7.15am Go for a run. Thirty minutes around the track at Paddington Rec, accompanied by several new and nameless tunes recommended to me by Dan, our head of design.

8.00am Second bowl of porridge.

8.15am Get cab to work. Glad I live near a Tube station, the cabs that pass are more likely to be available.

9.00am On my way to traffic meeting, ask Tracy (my PA) to add a soya decaf latte to her coffee list. She refuses, saying that the person serving might think it's for her.

9.30am Having dealt with most work e-mails, I concentrate on the latest betting on The X-Factor. Not a vintage crop, and no clear winner, so money could be made here.

10.00am Coffee with Argos client. Agree that neither of us will be having turkey this Christmas.

10.30am Revenue meeting with Peter Walker (the finance director). First time I feel glad I've booked myself on to a finance course at London Business School next week.

11.30am Nip out to Liberty to pick up a lovely pair of black shoes.

12.00pm Sit down with Simon Clemmow and Ben Southgate to work through the new brand thinking on Anchor butter.

12.30pm Call David Golding to ask him for a soundbite to help make me look clever in creds meeting.

1.00pm Lunch at Roka with Steve Parish, the keeper of The X-Factor book. Shakes my faith in Nikitta, but convinces me Eton Road are the next Scissor Sisters. Leave £30 lighter, but happy with odds of 9-1.

2.30pm Creative review on gas. All agree we're cooking with it.

3.30pm Creds meeting. Reminds me why I love new business, and why I should never listen to soundbites from boyfriend.

5.30pm Go for coffee with a prospective new creative team Ewan Paterson's been raving about. Nice chaps. Great book. Fun hour.

6.30pm Partners meeting. All very powerful. Well, the nibbles are.

9.30pm Drink with Barnaby Dawe, our Heart client.

10.30pm Call brothers to talk Gold family Christmas arrangements.

11.00pm Get porridge out ready for the morning.
