Coward quits as TBWA account director for WCRS job

Coward joined Simons Palmer Denton Clemmow and Johnson in January 1996

and ran the succesful pitch for the launch of the Goldfish credit card

in May of that year. He also worked on the Sun and the News of the World

accounts .



’The opportunity to work somewhere that is really on the up-and-up was

too good to pass up,’ Coward said. ’WCRS is cheery and it is very clear

what sort of place it is and what it stands for. It is like going back

to the Simons Palmer culture, where everyone knows each other and you

always know what is going on.’



Coward began his advertising career as a graduate trainee at Bates

Dorland in 1988, and was an account director on the Halifax business by

1991.



He was promoted to board account director on the Safeway business in

1994 and was involved with the client during the inception of the

’Harry’ creative work.



’I didn’t want to go somewhere too big, but I also wanted to go to an

agency with enough critical mass so that it isn’t likely to get

swallowed up,’ Coward added. ’First Direct was a big pull - WCRS has a

good list of clients and the work here is strong.’
