Craig Fabian calls it quits at Volvo after seven years in job

Craig Fabian, director of marketing communications at Volvo UK, is to leave at the end of this month after seven years with the company.

Craig Fabian, director of marketing communications at Volvo UK, is

to leave at the end of this month after seven years with the

company.

Fabian is not thought to have a job lined up, but is understood to be

talking to several companies. The news has prompted a reorganisation of

Volvo’s marketing department, although no new appointments are

expected.

Sarah Buckle, advertising manager of Volvo UK and Fabian’s

second-in-command, is tipped to take control of the pounds 18 million UK

advertising budget.

Fabian joined Volvo from BMP DDB Needham in 1991 and was made director

of marketing communications in October 1996, when he faced the challenge

of reversing the company’s falling UK market share.

He gave the green light to the creation of the D&AD gold award-winning

’twister’ ads, created by Volvo UK’s agency, Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO,

and directed by Tony Kaye. Fabian was unavailable for comment.
