The move has sparked rumours that The Gap is looking to create its first advertising for the European market and follows the appointment last month of Clare Dobbie as its European marketing director (Campaign, 23 September).
Although Crook would not comment on whether the changes would result in a separate European communications strategy, she confirmed that it was the first time The Gap had appointed brand teams in Europe. More marketing appointments are expected when Crook takes up her new role in January.
Crook was at Vodafone for two years, most recently as the head of integration for the brand and customer experience group - effectively second-in-command to David Wheldon, Vodafone's director of marketing and brand communications.
Before joining Vodafone, Crook completed an MBA and worked at Wieden & Kennedy.
