A new weekly financial newspaper for Scotland, thought to come from

the Daily Record, is being test-marketed in focus groups and is set to

launch in January.

The project is likely to have originated at Insider Publications,

publisher of Scottish Business Insider magazine, which was recently

acquired by the Daily Record.

The 32-page pink tabloid will have a cover price of between 70p and

pounds 1.

Editorial content in the dummy covers both the Scottish business scene

and the UK as a whole, with City and national news assessed from a

Scottish perspective.

Much of the advertising is expected to be generated from London which

will require the setting up of a London sales office.

Insider Publications’ managing director, Alastair Balfour, declined to

comment and referred enquiries to Daily Record managing director Mark

Hollinshead.
