David Bailey, the icon of 60s fashion photography, has left RSA

Films to join James Garrett & Partners for commercials

representation.

Despite his status as a fashion photographer, Bailey has worked

regularly in advertising during recent years. His work over the past

three years includes a campaign for Burton Menswear through Mellors Reay

& Partners, a poster for Elle featuring a naked Naomi Campbell, and a

Start-rite ad for Grey.

In the 80s, Bailey starred in commercials for the Olympus Trip. He also

famously directed the 80s Volkswagen Golf commercial, ’changes’,

featuring Paula Hamilton flouncing out of a house, flinging away her fur

coat and pearls but holding on to the keys of her beloved Golf.

Gerald Berman, the managing director of Garretts, said: ’David is a

great talent and we are lucky to have him.’

Tim White, a joint founder of Spots, which closed two years ago, is also

joining Garretts, where he will be a senior producer.
