Magliano shares much in common with Guardian News and Media’s (GNM) flagship newspaper, describing himself thus: "Open-minded and curious, but doesn’t waste time [in] getting to the point." He has been behind several of GNM’s diversifications, including the launch of Guardian Members and a members’ building, due to open in summer 2016. Magliano was recently promoted to GNM’s executive committee following David Pemsel’s appointment as chief executive. Magliano’s pre-Guardian career is full of achievements: founding low-cost airline Go, helping with London’s winning Olympic bid and "valiantly, but unsuccessfully, trying to win the right to host the 2018 World Cup".
