David Perkins leaves MD position at BHWG

BHWG Proximity has lost its managing director, David Perkins, just

seven months after his arrival.

Perkins was brought in by BHWG in January to run its London agency and

to work on creating closer relationships with BHWG's Proximity partners

Clarke Hooper Momentum and Traffic. He was also appointed to develop

BHWG's customer relationship management offering.

It is unclear exactly why Perkins has left the agency. He departs just

after he completed the first stage of bringing the group agencies closer

together.

Perkins, well known in the direct marketing industry for his CRM

expertise, was the joint chief executive of Carlson Marketing Group

before joining BHWG Proximity. He left Carlson after a restructure

spearheaded by the chairman, Marcus Evans.

Before the arrival of Perkins BHWG did not have a managing director for

18 months. Dennis Kerslake had left the post in August 1999 to join

Brann London. Kerslake had also joined BHWG after a spell at

Carlson.

Perkins' role is initially expected to be shared between BHWG's other

directors, including the chief executive, Simon Hall, and the chairman,

Chris Barraclough. Hall has recently been focusing on the global

expansion of the Proximity network.
