The newly-created role will see Hipkiss take on responsibility for driving and delivering the trading strategy. He will report in to Karen Stacey, the chief executive, and work closely with DCM’s head of agency sales, Davina Barker.

Before Bauer, Hipkiss has held roles within agencies and media owners, including ITV, WCRS and Vizeum.

Stacey said: "As we continue to innovate and further cement cinema’s role in the media mix, David’s wealth of experience, impressive little black book of contacts and sharp strategic thinking will only help transport DCM to the next level."

Hipkiss added: "I am hugely excited to be joining such a well-respected business at a time of change in the industry - where AV opportunities are proliferating and the cinema industry is growing so strongly.

"I see huge potential going forward for DCM to develop innovative ways of working with agencies to drive growth."
