Diary: The way to Amarillo runs through McCann offices

Not many people would argue over the statement that YouTube is one of the most fun sites on the web.

However, it is also true that there is some terrible content on the site, and that it is tempting - and easy - to upload crazy videos which might not be as cool as you first thought.

Step forward the senior management team at McCann's Manchester office, which has uploaded three minutes and three seconds of truly toe-curling self-promotion.

The video (at www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9WOQ6qUc3I) is a parody of Tony Christie's Amarillo by Lancashire funny man Peter Kay.

As the music plays, a series of "lucky" employees parade towards the camera, aping the hit video.

However, the words have been doctored to fit in with the "obvious craziness" that takes place at the agency on a daily basis.

The main chorus lines have also been altered and are now: "Is this the way to integration? Look out of the window at our location. We need a lot more communication. Says the totty that fancy me."

However, this is trumped at the end, when the chorus changes to: "Is this the way to integration? Stop all the verbal constipation. We need more media penetration (at which point the singer humps the air with a look of ecstasy etched on his face). Come on lovely, agree with me."

Despite all of this, though, it looks like it's mission accomplished for the agency - the link is currently whizzing its way around adland.
