DIARY: Dilys found her ideal fridge, so decided to ask Bob to marry her

It’s good to see that romance is alive and kicking in the advertising industry and that at least one person noticed it was Leap Year’s day last week.

It’s good to see that romance is alive and kicking in the advertising

industry and that at least one person noticed it was Leap Year’s day

last week.

It were luvverly. ’Twas warm and sunny outside O&M Direct’s offices in

Smithfield, and the stench of the meatmarket hung in the air. The art

buyer, Dilys Lloyd Jones, and the art director, Bob Anderson, were out

shopping.

Dilys says: ‘We spotted a fridge made in the 50s and I just had to have

it. But it wasn’t the only thing I wanted, so I said to Bob, ‘Buy me the

fridge and I’ll marry you.’’

And Bob’s response? ‘Well, being Scottish, I said ‘Aye’, but then I had

second thoughts and said ‘Yes’. You have to do these things properly,

you know.’

This strange photograph is, apparently, the most romantic they could

find of themselves. Bodes well, don’t you think?
