Diary: More Dukes of Hazzard than Dukes of Somerset

The Dukes of Somerset may not be too keen to allow anyone from adland to rent out their 300-year-old country house after revellers at Jonathan Burley's 40th birthday party seem to have left the place in a bit of a state.

Diary hears that Giles Hedger, the group chief strategy officer of the Leo Burnett Group, and Richard Huntingdon, the director of strategy at Saatchi & Saatchi, decided it would be a good idea to dance on the piano wearing wigs, instead of tinkling the ivories, in the early hours of the morning.

Then later, at around 6am, Burley, Burnett's executive creative director, had to wake up those who had fallen asleep after too much to drink - and after setting the Aga on fire. Everyone in Bradley House, nestled in the depths of Wiltshire, rallied around to try to control the fire as smoke and fumes filled the house. Doesn't sound like they'll be invited back soon.
