Diary: The end of an era: Baulk and PA Pam Wilson split

Diary is saddened to report the imminent break-up of one of adland's most enduring professional partnerships.

No, not the Saatchi brothers, but Michael Baulk and Pam Wilson.

For the past 22 years, Wilson has organised Baulk's schedule, booked his plane tickets, fielded his phone calls and tolerated his lingering affection for Tippex in a hi-tech age.

She started as his PA at Ogilvy & Mather and was with him on his first day at Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO in 1986.

"Pam knows everything there is to know about the business," Baulk, who retires this summer as AMV Group's chairman and chief executive, says.

"I cannot imagine what I'd have done without her."

Wilson's most enduring memory of her boss? The day he walked her up the aisle for her wedding 15 years ago. "Michael is famously late for everything, so to make sure he turned up on time we told him the wedding was 30 minutes earlier than it actually was. So determined was he not to be late that he ended up kicking his heels for an hour."
