DIARY: England stuff Holland in Euro 96 final (really)

All footballed out? We hope not. Just as big media like ITV are staging a whole cornucopia of footie specials for the soccerfest that is Euro 96, so we would like to do our own little bit. We bring you the Europa Cup 1996, advertising’s very own Euro league, open to, er, Publicis offices across the Continent (look, we said it was advertising’s very own).

And just as Holland is pitched against England next Tuesday, so Publicis

Holland was up against Publicis London in the Europa Cup final (see,

there are all sorts of parallels). The good news is that the English

team won, on penalties, which could bode well for the real-life players.

So here’s a pic of the victorious team, who are said to be ‘over the

moon’ at their triumph and can evidently kick a ball as well as, ooh,

let’s say, the England squad can kick in TV screens.
