Diary: FA Cup overshadowed by agency/client duel

Who gives a toss about the FA Cup Final held on Saturday when there's the Marketing Society's agency versus clients football match to talk about. There was comedy action from Euro RSCG London's Adam Leigh, who feared the ball, unlike Ben Langdon, who chased it, flinging team mates and rivals aside.

An old grudge between Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R's James Murphy and the Sunday Express' Mark Kleinman was played out, with Murphy knocking over a seething Kleinman three times. The threat of negative coverage didn't deter Murphy, who pointed out that nobody reads the Sunday Express anyway.

The surprise entry at the auction was the opportunity to star in an ad for Tango or British Gas (donated by Clemmow Hornby Inge's Brian Turner and Micky Tudor). A surprise, that is, for British Gas' marketing director, Nick Smith, who was unaware of the proposal and outbid by IBM's Paul Maddox.
