Jerry Buhlmann, the chief executive of Dentsu Aegis Network, is hosting a global get-together of its agencies in the city. But the real action is taking place afterwards, as he is leading a 90-kilometre cycle ride through the desert heat with other Dentsu Aegis hard nuts. Steve King, the global chief executive of Publicis Media and another fitness freak, happens to be having a meeting with his agency bosses in Dubai. How about a Dentsu versus Publicis desert race?
Clue’s in the name
Diary’s inbox was flooded with e-mails (two of the buggers!) after last week’s story about Wieden & Kennedy tackling its reputation as "Weekend & Kennedy" by cutting back working hours. Industry wags were falling over themselves to point out that the story had failed to name two of the best agency nicknames – TBWA\Chiat\Night & Day and Adam & Evening. Strangely, no-one knew any agencies that had earned nicknames for being laid back. Perhaps Diary would have better luck asking some procurement teams for their input.
New residents at BBH
Not many people can say they have done a somersault at Christie’s in South Kensington. But Vinny Olimpio, an art director at Bartle Bogle Hegarty, did just that at an event held by BBH in partnership with the auction house last Thursday. Over the past year, for its She Lights Up The Night initiative, BBH has invited contemporary graphic artists to take up residence in the office of its deputy executive creative director, Caroline Pay, to create an original artwork, which is then sold by Christie’s – with proceeds going to the BBH client Refuge.
No more FOMO
WCRS is living vicariously through Alex Gluck, one of its staff who won a competition to go to SXSW. She has an Instagram feed, @subservientglucky, that enables those stuck in the office to choose what she does each day. Dressing as a lion was one of her challenges (pictured above).

Here’s the Mattessons Snackarchist at a Lethal Bizzle gig. It was the nerdiest stage invasion since Jarvis Cocker waved his bum at Michael Jackson during the 1996 Brit Awards.
The Lucky Generals team nabs new recruits young. The founders were quick to send an outfit to their business director Jenny Bust’s newborn. Surely it should read "Infant-ry", though?
The Havas Creative Group executive creative directors, Ben Mooge and Andy Sandoz, took Campaign on a trip to the new Havas site in King’s Cross. Here they are with our own Gurjit Degun, donning the ever-fashionable combo of oversized high-vis jackets, hard hats and goggles.
