DIARY: Hello boys! We know what they’re playing at with that Puma ad

Come on, who’s clocked the most blatant piece of homoerotica to ever pass for a TV commercial - the new ad for Puma football boots from K Advertising.

Come on, who’s clocked the most blatant piece of homoerotica to ever

pass for a TV commercial - the new ad for Puma football boots from K

Advertising.

For those of you who haven’t seen it, the spot consists of a hunky hero

stripping off his clothes.

This is accompanied by a teasing voiceover from Patsy Kensit, who says

things like: ‘Men - they only think about one thing,’ and ‘the most

uncontrollable passion’. You get the drift.

It builds up to the expected reveal in the time-honoured tradition of

homoerotica - sorry, British advertising - until someone shouts at our

hero: ‘You’re late, get your kit on.’ He’s getting changed for a game of

football - geddit?

The endline is ‘serious studs’. Wags have suggested that this refers to

the K account director, Clive Baker, who stars in the spot. Baker

allegedly fought his Puma client, Paul Gautier, for the role.

But there was no animosity from Gautier. And when we tell you that Baker

was not the hunk, but the locker-room wimp who cops an eyeful of the

hunk’s lunch box, you will understand why.

Meanwhile, rumour has it that K’s boss, Hamish Pringle, once starred in

an Avon ad. We’d love to see it - or any other acting appearances by

advertising people.
