DIARY: IPA bears no grudges as it plays the host at Fisher's final farewell

Want to know where Carol Fisher, the former "Queen Bee of COI Communications, is buzzing off to?

Well, join the club, as it was the hot topic eclipsing all others at Fisher's recent leaving party. On the question of her job - theories range from consultancy to a specially created post at Sir Martin Sorrell's WPP - Fisher is giving nothing away.

Present at the party were some 80 agency brown-nosers (sorry, some 80 of her dearest and closest friends) hosted at none other than ... the IPA headquarters.

Readers will remember Fisher's contretemps with Bruce Haines, the IPA president, when her response to Haines' attack on cheapskate clients at the ISBA conference in March saw her virtually accusing leading agencies of not recognising a decent integrated idea if it bit their well-tailored arses.

While this went down like a cup of cold sick in some quarters, all was forgiven last week when Haines hosted the bash. La Fisher treated the occasion with due respect by delivering her valediction wearing a cardboard gold tiara.

Meanwhile she has to work out what do with her COI leaving present - a huge mural of the inky handprints of all the Hercules Road toilers, including the deputy chief executive, Peter Buchanan (pictured). "They must think I live in a Manhattan loft instead of Thames Ditton, she remarked with trademark bluntness.
