DIARY: Lace urges caution as Campaign subscriber

Yet more tales of Grey London's chief executive, Garry Lace, and his old friend the e-mail, I'm afraid, but this time we're positive that the words were typed out with his very own fingers.

Lace was the recipient of an e-mail note gently reminding him to renew his lapsed subscription to this very organ.

Uncharacteristically, Lace decided to err on the side of caution in this instance and sent an e-mail to our top brass declining to commit until his position at Grey had been clarified.

"Ladies, thanks for this," the reply said. "I'll wait until I find out whether I've still got a job before committing myself to the subscription, if that's OK."

But we're confused. Surely, if Lace really thinks that his job is in jeopardy, a subscription to Campaign is exactly what he'll be needing?
