Diary: Marcantonio's charity ride is round the bend

Get your expenses form orders in at the stationery cupboard early this year - Cannes looks like being a pricier jaunt than usual.

The advertising veteran Alfredo Marcantonio has joined the worthy band of do-gooders attempting to extricate readies from festival-goers.

Marcantonio, a former vice-chairman of Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, is, for one day only, joining the Fireflies' sponsored bike ride from Geneva to Cannes to raise money for the leukaemia charity, Leuka 2000.

Marcantonio is saving himself for the L'Alpe D'Huez stretch, which comprises 21 hairpin bends. He will be shaking his charity box for sponsorship of each of the bends he manages to complete.
