Diary: Media folk love to clown around... but this is silly

Viacom Brand Solutions, led by its managing director, Nick "Bammo" Bampton, ran away to the circus last week as part of a bonding exercise to build the skills of the 80-strong VBS troop.

Bammo and the team decamped to Cornwall to promote a night of fun called "Circ US", which involved the 80 novice clowns learning fire-eating, stilt-walking, juggling and lying on a bed of nails before putting on a show.

Inspired by The Apprentice host, Sir Alan Sugar, "Ringmaster" Bammo also challenged the teams to sell tickets and merchandise in the big top. VBS sold 400 tickets to locals (50 more than planned), promoted the show on local radio and raised £2,500 for Childline.
