Diary: On the QT ..

ZenithOptimedia established its reputation for throwing the first drinks party of the autumn season with its "La Rentree" event at its Fitzrovia offices.

Newspaper men including News International's Clive Milner, Mirror Group's Richard Webb and The Mail on Sunday's Simon Davies were out in force, while Sky's Nick Milligan and ids's James Wildman were diplomatic enough to avoid confrontation. It was also good of the agency to extend the hand of hospitality to the needy few who have lost their expense accounts. The former Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R directors James Murphy and David Golding were seen tucking into the beers and canapes as they contemplate life launching a start-up ...

Lucky Leo Burnett staff. As part of the agency's eco drive, employees are being encouraged to cycle into work. But instead of the usual couple of hundred quid most companies offer employees, Burnett is prepared to loan staff up to a whopping £1,000 to help them get kitted out. Poor Christian Clarke. The Joshua G2 executive creative director is clearly not taking his long-term creative partner Rod Clausen's impending departure to Australia all that well. For his leaving do, Clarke has filmed a video of the pair (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhzdGrQKSs0) taking part in a really quite violent (hopefully mock) fight, set to the stirring theme of Love Story. Diary wonders if Clarke isn't harbouring just a tiny bit of resentment towards his pal.
