Diary: On the QT ..

Doesn't anybody want the chief executive's job at JWT? Oh, come on, surely somebody fancies being the new Alison Burns.

Word is that the agency, having called every top ad executive in town, has switched headhunters in a final attempt to fill the slot. Apparently, Gay Haines, the grande dame of the game, has been drafted in ...

Especially when it comes to pulling in the cash. His predecessor, Michael Lynch, left last week with a blistering attack on the City fat cats who fail to support the arts. His verdict on them: "A bunch of bastards" ...

Diary would like to see huge cheques made payable to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund heading in the direction of Stephen Woodford, the DDB London chief executive. Woodford, whose son suffers from the condition, will be running the London Marathon this weekend to raise money for the charity ...

Woodford is hot on the heels of Delaney Lund Knox Warren & Partners' digital project director, Darren Roberts, who has won the Namibian Ultra Marathon, completing it in 20 hours and 38 minutes. The 24-hour race, involves three marathons back-to-back (126km) across the Namibian Desert. Out of the 24 contenders, half failed to complete the run, so huge congratulations to Roberts who scooped a trophy and free entry to the Grand Canyon Ultra Marathon - just in case he hadn't got his fill.
