DIARY: Saatchis art director is far too nice to grill royal staffers on ride

Prince Charles deserves our pity. Besides having big ears and the burden of a pounds 17 million pay-off to Di, last weekend he was also forced to go without his butler, his valet and his chef.

Prince Charles deserves our pity. Besides having big ears and the burden

of a pounds 17 million pay-off to Di, last weekend he was also forced to

go without his butler, his valet and his chef.

All three of them - Bruce, Clive and Carolyn - were on a cycle run from

London to Paris raising money for the Royal British Legion. They were

joined by 257 other cyclists including - and you could probably see this

coming - several adfolk.

Kevin Gordon, a Saatchi and Saatchi art director, was one of them. He

cycled for four days and nights and raised pounds 1,250. He also did his

utmost to prise some spicy gossip out of the trio, like how Charlie has

his eggs done in the morning, or where he gets his undies. But, no joy,

unfortunately.

‘They were very nice, orderly people. I really couldn’t quiz them too

much,’ he says.

Don’t ever apply for that job as a pushy account man, Kev.
