Diary: Water-cooler monitor

WHAT TOPICS HAS THE INDUSTRY BEEN DISCUSSING THIS WEEK?
THE TALK TIME SPENT
Bartle Bogle Hegarty's unpaid leave scheme. Staff 4 hrs 5 mins
are being asked to take nine days of unpaid leave a
year so that the agency doesn't have to make any
redundancies. How long before more agencies follow suit?
Four-day week anyone?

The 2012 London Olympics advertising pitch. Are 27 mins
they mad, asking the winning agency to effectively pay
£10 million to be an Olympics sponsor? What agency
can possibly afford that in the current climate (see above)?

Condoms and abortions. The proposed revamp to 3 mins
advertising rules, including pre-watershed ads for condoms
and pregnancy advisory clinics, has got the pressure groups
slavering. Adland's under fire for exacerbating social problems.
Again.
