DIARY: World Cup disaster as Carlton and Granada sales folk get to work

Hooray, hooray, it's finally happened. Carlton and Granada have merged and it's great news for absolutely everyone. Right?

Nope - wrong. In addition to the grumblings coming from media agencies, clients, rival networks and soon-to-be-made redundant staff, 22 ITV sales people have also got cause for complaint.

The observant among you will no doubt have noticed that there's a Rugby World Cup going on. The team of sales people in question were due to travel to Oz this week to see England shine, as part of what will forever be known as the biggest jolly ever.

Alas, it all went up in smoke as the salesmen have been forced to stay at home and hammer out the details of the forthcoming merger.

Ah well. Still, at least ISBA is happy.
