Discovery review of UK media account finds Zenith at risk

Discovery Network Europe has begun a review of its pounds 2.5 million UK media account held by Zenith Media.

million UK media account held by Zenith Media.

The cable and satellite channel has approached a number of agencies

through the AAR and is putting a shortlist together for a media pitch.

The move follows news last week that the company had parted company with

its UK creative incumbent, Bates UK, and asked three agencies to pitch

for the account (Campaign, 10 March).

London agency Hooper Galton has created ads for the channel since the

start of the year. It is not known whether Zenith, which held the

account alongside sister creative agency Bates, will repitch for the

Discovery business.

The winning agencies will be responsible for the launch of a new UK

channel, Discovery Health, which is set to launch in July following its

success as a TV and online brand in the US.

The other Discovery channels are Discovery Channel Europe, Discovery

Home and Leisure, Animal Planet, Discovery Travel and Adventure,

Discovery Civilisation, Discovery Sci-Trek, Discovery Kids and Discovery


Discovery is also set to increase its new-media activity with the

announcement last month that it will invest around dollars 500 million

in a new online unit,
