After Twitter was reported to have held discussions with Google and cloud computing company Salesforce last week about a possible takeover, Walt Disney Co is now working with a financial adviser to evaluate a possible bid, according to Bloomberg.

Rumours of a takeover have swelled in recent months as Twitter’s share price had fallen amid its difficulty in attracting new users and ad revenue.

Twitter, which is worth around $16bn (£13.3bn), would presumably be Disney’s largest acquisition since it bought the ABC Television Group in 1996.

Neither Twitter nor Disney has responded to the claims.
